Osborn Employee Spotlight: Sara Lucero Receives WTS Shawna Mulhall Memorial Scholarship

We are proud to announce that Osborn Consulting (OCI) Project
Engineer, Sara Lucero, EIT, was recently selected as the Shawna Mulhall
Memorial Scholarship Recipient for 2020! The scholarship, funded through the Women’s
Transportation Seminar (WTS) Foundation, emphasizes and supports the WTS goal
of fostering the development of women in the transportation field.

Sara started at OCI as an Engineering Intern in 2018, while completing
her undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Washington.
As an intern, she provided design and project support to a variety of projects
at OCI, that allowed her to develop technical skills and dive into the
industry.

Following her internship and college graduation, Sara joined the
OCI team as a full-time Project Engineer and has worked on a variety of
stormwater and transportation drainage projects for the Port of Seattle, King
County, City of Bellevue, and others.

“OCI has become my support system
whenever it comes to helping me achieve my goals. Whether it is a scholarship,
graduate school, developing my skills in a certain discipline, or celebrating
my achievements – I have been able to rely on OCI for almost two years to get a
jumpstart in my professional career”, Sara said as she reflected on her time on
the OCI team. “OCI has supported me by challenging me with projects
outside of my comfort zone and providing guidance when I need it, not only with
technical skills but also general mentorship”.

“They also support me just by being a
workplace that is full of inspiring, hardworking women in a male-dominated
field. Working with OCI has given me the confidence to go after what I want
without doubting myself.”

Sara will be recognized at the upcoming WTS Puget Sound Annual Scholarships and Awards Gala on March 12, 2020 and we could not be more excited to see where this opportunity takes Sara next in her career!

As a proud WTS Foundation’s scholarship fund donor for the past five years, Osborn Consulting is passionate about promoting, encouraging, and supporting women in civil engineering.
