Staff Spotlight: Information Technology Team

Happy National IT Professionals Day! National IT Professionals Day was established in 2015 to recognize the essential role these tech experts play. Osborn’s dedicated IT staff keep our firm running smoothly by ensuring that all systems, networks, and technologies operate efficiently and securely. With care and attention, they provide vital support, from maintaining day-to-day operations and troubleshooting technical issues to implementing system upgrades and safeguarding our data against cyber threats. Their expertise allows us to work seamlessly and stay ahead in a fast-paced digital environment.

On this National IT Professionals Day, hear from Osborn’s IT staff about what they do to keep our firm running smoothly, efficiently, and safely.

What inspired you to get into IT?

Eugene: Seeing the impact technology can have on an organization.

Tony: My dad bringing home computers in the 1990’s. Him and I collaborating late into the night, trying to figure out MS-DOS and what we did to break Windows.

Cayden: Natural affinity for computers (also modding Skyrim).

What does a typical day look like for you?

Eugene: We start early, stay late, and go hard. We also have a lot of fun in-between.

Tony: User support, reporting, endpoint management, compliance and silent enforcement, collaboration, planning, coding/scripting, researching, and learning.

Cayden: There isn’t one. Every day is new and interesting challenges.

What tools or technologies do you use most often?

Eugene: Sometimes it’s the simple answers. We use Microsoft Teams all day to collaborate and connect. Beyond that, anything with an IP is fair game.

Tony: Anything Microsoft or project related engineering software, which has endless challenges and rewards.

Cayden: My brain (and Powershell…. lots of Powershell).

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

Eugene: Ensuring people remain the priority, that they have everything needed to be their best.

Tony: Making sure we balance security and user productivity.

Cayden: Not screaming at my computer because I know other people might be in meetings and I don’t want to disrupt their focus.

How do you stay organized and manage priorities?

Eugene: Technology! The Solution Center keeps track of transactional activities (day-to-day), and Planner keeps us aligned with long term goals and objectives.

Tony: Solution center, Planner, email, and Teams.

Cayden: Our support email address is tied to a support system that has built in reminders to keep me on task. People using that is how I keep myself organized and on top of long running issues.

Can you describe a recent project you worked on and your role in it?

Eugene: Technology implementation, assuring teams have what they need and big picture alignment.

Tony: Our team is always looking to enhance the user experience and infrastructure of Osborn through new technologies and best practices. For instance, a VPN-less solution is a recent project that is slowly rolling out.

Cayden: M2D2. Found a new way to fix certain types of file corruption.
