Across our practice groups, Osborn Consulting employs 30 licensed professional engineers and more than 20 engineers in training. And today we’re all celebrating something special – the ninth annual Professional Engineers Day. It’s an occasion that raises awareness about what it means to be a professional engineer and to show appreciation for the work they do each and every day.
Osborn engineer-in-training Megan Ehlebracht recently passed her PE exam and is in the process of the application process to become a licensed professional engineer.
Obtaining a PE license is a journey all its own. In addition to completing a four-year degree in engineering, aspiring PEs must first pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and then gain at least four years of professional experience. Then they must pass the PE exam.
We support our colleagues as much as possible throughout the licensure process, including through on-the-job mentoring and incentives, which include covering the cost of the exam itself as well as a study course to help prepare for it.
