SR 16, Blackjack Creek

Osborn Consulting has developed plans, specifications, and estimates for over 1,000 linear feet of restored stream channel at the Blackjack Creek crossing of SR 16, located in Kitsap County. The design includes details for large woody material, streambed aggregate, and other habitat features, which were developed through close coordination with WSDOT, WDFW, and the Suquamish Tribe. As part of our work, we performed a detailed scour analysis based on a geomorphic assessment of the channel to estimate potential for long term channel degradation, which could impact the proposed channel design and integrated designs with roadway, structural and permitting teams. In their discussions with biologists from WDFW and the Suquamish Tribe, Osborn Consulting was able to work through several issues concerning channel complexity features and reach consensus that was satisfactory to all parties.
