20th Ave S Drainage Improvements

Osborn Consulting led the City of Burien drainage improvements to address the aging stormwater system along 20th Ave S, between S 120th St and S 124th St. Many of the existing concrete storm pipes in project limits were installed with less than 18-inch of cover. Our team developed the project through alternative analysis and construction cost estimates to define the pipe replacement and retrofit options. The preferred alternative was to provide a full replacement of all the existing pipes and replacement of the older brick catch basins. The shallow 8-inch water line required detailed utility locations to confirm clearances with the revised deeper drainage system and lateral crossings. We also provided bid and construction support for this project to supplement limited City staff availability for construction management and site observations.
